The experimental capabilities area involves partnering with the public institutions participating in INFUSE to utilize already existing, unique facilities at those institutes to qualify materials or test engineering concepts. Comparable facilities must not exist in the private sector. Unique facilities exist like the LAMDA facility at ORNL for irradiated materials characterization. Proto-MPEX and in the future, MPEX, for PMI effects, TPE at the INL STAR facility, HIFR and SNS for material irradiations. In addition, it might include access to NSTX-U and DIII-D for plasma exposures. As new facilities for magnet testing, remote handling and HHF testing become available, they will be included. Please discuss your needs with one of the laboratory POCs or the INFUSE directors to help identify an appropriate facility.
