The ARC commercial power plant will require successful plasma facing material (PFM) candidates able to survive extreme operational environments. PFCs will have to satisfy several distinct requirements simultaneously, including having low tritium retention, low sputtering or erosion, high thermal conductivity after neutron irradiation, high mechanical strength to resist cracking after neutron irradiation and in the presence of a high internal thermal stress, and maintain a continuous bond to the substrate structural material. It is currently unknown which of these issues will be the lifetime determining factors. This proposal evaluates a novel alloy for PFC use an integrated modeling code suite.
