ML/AI for fast robust EP loss estimates

September 10, 2025

In this project, Thea Energy, Inc. will collaborate with Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) to develop fast and accurate artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) models for the prediction of fast particle confinement in candidate designs for a fusion power plant. These fast particles carry heat from the fusion reaction and must be retained in the plasma to sustain the reaction. Traditional simulation of these particles requires supercomputers and is time-intensive. By accelerating these calculations with AI/ML techniques, Thea will develop a tool to tune the behavior of new plasmas with respect to this critical metric.
