Analysis of energetic-particle-driven Alfven activity in the Eos stellarator towards a quasi-axisymmetric fusion pilot plant

September 10, 2025

In this project, Thea Energy, Inc. will collaborate with Columbia University to perform a critical plasma physics analysis of “Eos,” Thea Energy’s first integrated fusion system. Eos will be a fusion neutron source, and like a fusion power plant, will include very energetic plasma ions. Columbia University will analyze Thea Energy’s Eos design to determine at what density these energetic particles drive oscillations in the plasma, which could limit plasma performance. This information is essential to finalizing the Eos design, to predicting the performance of Eos, and to designing future fusion power plants.
